KeymasterI was involved in a car accident in Tacoma last week and I went to the hospital and was checked out. The ER doctor told me that there are no broken bones and nothing was wrong, yet I have severe neck pain. Would I benefit by seeing a chiropractor?

KeymasterHi Kristina,
Thank you for getting in touch with us. Now I cannot give you medical advice in this format but keep in mind that hospitals have the unique task to screen for more serious life threatening injuries or illnesses. Although, whiplash can cause significant pain and disability, generally there are few x-ray findings. Whiplash is a soft tissue injury and has been shown in recent research to cause future pain and degenerative arthritis if not treated. This condition responds well to chiropractic treatment and massage.
If the neck pain from your car accident in Tacoma is still present and it has been more than a week please come in and let me evaluate you. The sooner you start treatment the better your clinical outcome will be. I can determine if you need chiropractic care and/or some other form of treatment.
Thank you,
Dr. Aric M. Turrubiate
